Testing the efficiency of a new method for detecting Clostridium perfringens in potable water (Dwr Cymru  Welsh Water, 2013)

I was selected for a placement during the summer of 2013 to establish the efficiency of a new and quicker method for detecting Clostridium perfringens in potable water samples. This method involved using a newly identified biochemical reaction that is specific to C. perfringens and was able to cut incubation times down from 48 to 24 hours. The new method was then implemented for a trial basis at the Glaslyn laboratory of Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.
